HSE Specialist (Pre-Qualification & COR)

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, Health, Safety & Environment, the incumbent will be part of the HSE team responsible for development of policies, program, procedures, practices and training elements to maintain HSE client pre-qualification and to assist regions to successfully pass the Certificate Of Recognition (COR) audits. The incumbent will be part of the Ainsworth Corporate HSE team responsible for ensuring that a high level of focus on safety is maintained at all times throughout the company and will work alongside senior professional safety specialists supporting implementation and compliance of current safety programs as well as being engaged in our leading safety program, health and safety management system, and training to legislative requirements. He/she will work in compliance with all applicable Quality, Safety and Environmental Operating Systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain pre-qualification HSE information on sites such as ISNetworld, ContractorCheck, Comply Works, CogniBox, and Avetta ensuring HSE documentation meets client requirements
  • Complete and provide required pre-qualification HSE information for national and large RFQs ensuring it is timely, accurate, and consistent with HSE programs.
  • Research, develop, and communicate policies, programs, national practices/procedures.
  • Monitor, assess, and communicate regulatory changes and impact.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a national risk registry.
  • Maintain eCompliance COR documentation for policies, programs, national practices/procedures.
  • Assist with COR audits and national HSE reviews including observations, monitoring, and documenting, perform a gap analysis, and develop an action plan to address gaps.
  • Field site visits to provide on-site safety support
  • Assist in the development and review of formal and informal risk assessments
  • Research, develop, and assisting in instruction and training, on-the-job, classroom and safety forums on Ainsworth Safety programs.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Provides service to both internal and external stakeholders (employees, management and outside parties of interest)
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations
  • Adhere to the Company's Quality System operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management

 

Education and Experience

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in the Health and Safety and Environmental field within a Construction environment.
  • A recognized post-secondary education in Health and Safety and Environmental field or equivalent experience. Must have CRSP designation or actively engaged in working towards this certification.
  • COR internal auditor designation.
  • Knowledge of safety legislation, regulations and codes as well as assessment of new regulations
  • Working knowledge of provincial/federal safety legislation and compensation legislation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with superior interpersonal and organizational skills are required for this opportunity.
  • Previous experience with ISO 9000 standards, CSA HSE standards, and HSE-MS such as ISO 18001.
  • Previous experience working with unionized trades in similar industry, an asset.
  • Good team facilitation skills.
