Bilingual Quotations Clerk/Estimator

Job Summary

This position works directly with the technicians, outside sales team and customers. As a part of the service department you will work with this group to generate quotations and estimates based upon information received.  This position will follow the quotation through the quote and order entry process until it becomes the responsibility of the Service Coordination Team. The Quotations Clerk / Estimator remains involved in a job to help maintain the profit margin and to handle any changes in the original estimates while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction while balancing financial goals consistent with the needs of both the corporation and the customer.  The successful candidate develops solid relationships with suppliers, customers and technical staff, in a coordinated effort to retain the existing customer base and increase sales.

Key Responsibilities

·         Responds to demand requests and/or recommendations via phone and email in a timely manner. 

·         The estimator is responsible for maintaining relationships with suppliers and equipment vendors. These relationships are used to keep track of current pricing and to negotiate better rates for long-term or large-scale projects.

·         Distribute quotations in timely manner.

·         Demonstrates technical expertise and maintains a high level of credibility.

·         A detailed estimate must be completed in Jonas that determines sell prices, but also determines the labor and material that is required to complete the work.

·         Once the customer accepts the quotation, the material is ordered & received. Paperwork is prepared and properly turned over to the service coordinators to execute.

·         Works closely with service technicians to insure our commitments to the customer are kept.

·         Assist co-workers with day to day operations and set up for following day’s schedule, prior to leaving the office.  Familiar with departmental routines to provide effective backup when required.

·         Facilitate communication with other team members, sub-contractors’ staff and other employees.

·         Adhere to safety standards.  High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.


Education and Experience


·         Technical / Professional certification (DEP, DEC or equivalent) related to building technologies

·         2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role

·         Must be bilingual in both French and English

·         Knowledge of MS Office, experience in use of estimating and business management software
