BAS Technician (Level 4)

Job Summary

BAS Service Technician is the top quartile in the BAS Technicians role.  Our BAS Service technicians typically have 4 to 8 years of field experience working and optimizing the performance of building automation systems and/or its associated field components.  Our BAS Service Technicians will work closely with the service dispatcher, service manager and other technicians to deliver best in class service and maintenance for BAS systems to our valued clients.  A BAS Service Technician is defined as one who has demonstrated a competency in technical leadership and communication.


 Key Responsibilities

·         Demonstrates good Health and Safety practices, leads and/or participates in safety talks

·         Takes a senior role in the development and mentoring of other technicians on within the business

·         Has a primary customer facing role, always representing the company in a professional manner, and with the customer’s needs in mind

·         Demonstrates both leadership and acceptance of Airtron/Ainsworth’s standard practices in the delivery of BAS service and maintenance.  Liaises with other technicians in order to improve these practices

·         Provide day to day support to our clients with minimal guidance from the Service Manager

    • Demonstrates ability to take on the lead technician role for facilities
    • Uses technical knowledge and experience to conduct check-out, verification and calibration, preventative maintenance and service of Building Automation Systems and its field components
    • Actively interfaces with our clients to ensure best in class customer service is provided
    • Takes lead role in scheduling on-site activities and co-ordination with clients and service manager
    • Is expected to report or identify system optimization and continuous improvement opportunities
    • Shares responsibility for working within budget as defined by the service manager
    • Responsible for customer satisfaction and growth of services
    • Involved in turnover process from projects to service

·         Identifies and takes ownership of assigned sites including technical challenges and works with vendors and internal resources to resolve

·         Assists with sales estimations and costing exercises

·         Available for emergency technical support to technicians within teams and across entire operation

·         Work under pressure in a service minded industry being professional and courteous towards customers and fellow workers

·         When scheduled in advance, takes on Remote Building Automation duties to support maintenance and triage activities with our call centre

·         Join the rotating after-hours on-call emergency response team

·         Adhere to all company policies and procedures

·         Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations

·         Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures

·         Perform other duties as assigned by Management


 Education and Experience

·         A technician or technologist diploma in; mechanical, electrical, electronics, automation or instrumentation or equivalent combination field and educational experience

·         Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by Ainsworth

·         Pass security screening as required by Airtron/Ainsworth’s clients

·         Excellent communication in English and French languages – both written and oral

·         Fluent in Microsoft Office, including Visio

·         Technically competent in the Schneider Electric BAS product line with working knowledge of multiple BAS platforms
