Motor Technician

Job Summary:

Test, rebuild and repair electric motors, generators, transformers, controllers and related electrical and mechanical equipment used in commercial, industrial and institutional settings. Maintaining the electric motors and related equipment used to power machinery and equipment


Key Responsibilities

  • maintaining, testing, rebuilding and repairing electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electrical apparatus, both AC and DC
  • wind/rewind and assemble various types of coils for electric motors or transformers and reinstall them
  • replacing or reconditioning shafts, bearings and other components
  • testing, repairing or replacing wiring or components of electrical switchgear
  • understanding electrical theory, electron theory, and knowing and following the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management


Education and Experience

  • Minimum grade 12 education (or equivalent) preferred with good communication skills in English and strong mathematic and writing skills
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • good mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of  industrial process and application
  • manual dexterity
  • the ability to pay careful attention to detail
  • Able to work with or without supervision and able to make decisions on his/her own
