In honour of International Women’s Day today, we have an exciting announcement to make.
Last year, Ainsworth continued the work of bringing together teams across regions and functions to realize our mission and vision. Part of that vision and outlined in the social objectives of GDI’s 2022 ESG report was to increase women in technical positions by 10% in 5 years. In recognizing the immense value of empowering women, and the need for support in our sector, we are happy to announce that Ainsworth is sponsoring Women in HVAC-R.
Women in HVAC-R is a non-profit membership-based organization whose mission is to provide a forum to promote the inclusion and advancement of women in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) industry in Canada. Their activities mainly center around networking, education, mentoring, and professional development specifically dedicated to supporting women in building long-term productive careers.
A rapidly growing organization, Women in HVAC-R partners with other associations and schools to build connections between employers like Ainsworth, the educational institutions that develop talent, and the prospective employees themselves. Some of these partners include George Brown College, Georgian College, Algonquin College, the Canadian Association of Women in Construction, and Skills Canada.
As a sponsor, Ainsworth will be able to post directly on their job board, engage in speaking events, and be able to connect with new grads who are members of the organization. This involvement will go a long way to build more diverse talent pipelines for not only technical roles but others in our field as well. Our first engagement will be with their March 8th event in which we are hoping to send a couple of employees to attend.
In collaborating with Women in HVAC-R, we hope to do our part in creating working environments that promote safety, equity, and belonging for all.
